Jane approached Orchid Rehab in 2021 with a long history of lower back pain which resulted in stiffness and tightness in her left leg which affected her mobility and specifically her ability to enjoy her hobby of running.
When Jane started her rehabilitation, whilst running she felt as if her left leg was going to give way and was considering giving up.
After a biomechanical assessment, we devised a bespoke exercise programme for Jane aiming to improve her back, pelvis and lower limb alignment to improve flexibility in the left leg and improve her lower limb and core stability.
Jane’s exercise routine included:
✅ Transversus abdominus activation and core control work
✅ Stretches for hip, pelvis and back
✅ Stretches to loosen muscles
✅ Strengthening and toning
✅ Advise on biomechanics of running
✅ Yoga and breathwork
Jane picked up the principals easily and we were able to put the alignment work into her existing yoga practice and she was independently able to continue with her exercise programme in her own time.
Jane recently got in touch to say:
‘Last year you kindly gave me help and advice to help me get back out running on the Salisbury Plain. Just wanted to let you know that I recently completed the Royal Parks half marathon in London. loved every minute of it, and much to my surprise have had no ill effects! So thank you – I am still doing the exercises that you provided me with.’ ?
