Neurological Rehabilitation Stories
In some way I was the luckiest man alive as my AVM ruptured outside a major hospital which then saved my life. On the downside, I was a guy in my early 20’s who experienced a brain injury that changed my life forever. Orchid Rehab has supported me through some difficult times. They have helped me with my physio, and their wisdom and sensitivity have allowed me to overcome some darker moments.
Cecil came to us, following a stroke, that left him with left sided weakness.
He had been discharged from hospital, with the prognosis was that he had reached the end of his rehab potential, and was without further community support.
Over time, Cecil has been able to gain some independence and allowed him to explore his hobbies, like photography ? and watching his dog running about on walks. ?
Huw has known the team at Orchid Rehab for a long time. He continues to be supported by Orchid Rehab for his physical progress, as well as the challenges he faces with his communication difficulties and associated wellbeing needs. He has shown there are still many improvements to make many years after having a stroke.
M has struggled with Fibromyalgia for several years without much help from the medication prescribed by her GP. Helen introduced her to the Mollii suit and gave advice on breath work and other strategies to combat her symptoms and sleep deprivation which has helped alleviate her condition.
A young man who was struggling with a variety of aches and pains, as well as weakness for years. P had stopped doing some of his hobbies that he was passionate about. After starting his journey with Helen at Orchid Rehab, he learnt more about his body and how it works efficiently so he is now able to return to the things he loves doing, without suffering the painful niggles he had before. He has regained his confidence.
Jane approached Orchid Rehab in 2021 with a long history of lower back pain which resulted in stiffness and tightness in her left leg, affecting her mobility and her ability to enjoy her hobby of running.
After a biomechanical assessment, and implementing a bespoke exercise programme to improve her flexibility and lower limb and core stability, Jane recently got in touch to say she had completed a half marathon.
Feedback from Our Clients
“Really helpful session and follow up exercise sheet. Have long had issue with leg which has recently prevented me from running. Helen was quick to diagnose cause and with her guidance I have been able to incorporate her exercises into my yoga practice and and to get out running again. Fabulous!”
“Orchid Rehab is the best! Thank you for all you have done for my mum, who has gained confidence and a renewed lease of life after knee replacement. Helen is on top her game and I recommend her with confidence to anyone who requires expert physio. Best regards”

“I’ve suffered back problems due to work and heavy lifting.. I’ve had treatment from a few physios due to this.. Orchid Rehab offered the best exercise techniques, treatment and information to get me back to normal quickly! Would definitely recommend them and use them again if needs be..”
“I recently experienced vertigo and my symptoms weren’t improving with the advice I was given from my GP.
I was booked an appointment with Helen who gave me a thorough assessment, an accurate diagnosis and gave me a detailed treatment plan, which I followed religiously and my symptoms improved within a few days.
Without this diagnosis and exercises I would not have been able to complete my martial arts grading the week after seeing you!
Thanks so much for all your help, you are amazing and I will forever be grateful for what you did.
Keep up the good work!”
“I first met Helen in 2001-2 when after an MRI scan, the specialist told me that at the age of 31 my chronic pain in my lower back was due to wear and tear.
I spent a few weeks with her at Paignton Hospital where she showed me all the exercises I needed to help me manage the rest off my life.
Nearly 20 years on and I am still doing most of those exercises every morning before I go to work.
It has kept me moving ( I won’t say supple… but far better than most 50 year olds), and I would say that without Helen’s input all those years ago I wouldn’t have been able to keep my active business going…
I’m not saying that I don’t still get pain, but it is far more controllable than what it would be without the exercises…
Thank you very much Helen”
