Why Orchid Rehabilitation was started
Based in Salisbury, Orchid Rehabilitation was established in 2018 to provide a holistic rehabilitation approach through Neurological Physiotherapy helping our clients to improve their lives, whilst living with the challenges of complex pain, wellbeing or fatigue.
Rehabilitation at Home
Our main service is offering appointments in the comfort of your own home around Wiltshire, Hampshire and Dorset (other locations will be considered). Local venues can be sourced if required.
Treating you in your own environment allows you to relearn life skills that are relevant to you, we can then explore your local community with these new found skills.
We use a variety of treatment skills which help a multitude of different conditions so we can tailor to suit your needs. As well as treating the injury/disease we include aspects of your life into your rehabilitation to create the most effective way forward for you.
Have you Heard these Comments?
“You will be pushed in a wheelchair for the rest of your life”
“You will never be able to walk again”
“You have a progressive condition; this is the best you are going to be”
“Successful rehabilitation will only occur in the first 3 months following a Stroke”
“There is no cure for Fibromyalgia, you will just have to live with it”
From our experience of treating complex presentations we have exceeded what was thought to be obtainable. Individuals that have been told they would be bed bound are now enjoying their hobbies and some even walking thanks to Orchid Rehab’s expertise.
Why we chose Orchid Rehabilitation
The Orchid was chosen as the name for the business, as it has amazing regeneration powers, which mirror the incredible ability of the brain to create new pathways and re-learn motor skills (such as reaching, walking and other movements), speech, thinking processes etc.
It is our mission to utilise the brain’s regeneration ability to obtain optimum results with our clients.
Moving forwards
We challenge the prognosis individuals have been given to get the best out of our clients. We have realised this is possible through neuroplasticity and through the individual challenging their current comfort zone in a safe way. If you are ready to start your journey, contact us and we will support you every step of the way.
The body is a fantastic thing that can adapt, change and heal as the brain learns, with the right input we can make improvements that change the suggested outcomes clients have been given. We have seen this with Fibromyalgia, Stroke and Traumatic Brain Injury clients who have been told they will be in a wheelchair for the rest of their lives and with many other scenarios.
Hands on Therapy Leads to Independence
We have a unique approach to problem solve and overcome difficulties to give our clients options which would be most suitable for the individual to progress in their journey. We offer individual sessions or packages for intense rehabilitation and we can offer classes and training to carers and health care professionals.
There are lots of hand on techniques, strategies, equipment, technologies, and opportunities available that makes life easier that are often overlooked that we can offer and explore. We treat everyone one uniquely and design the best package to suit your needs.
The Team
Orchid Rehabilitation was formed in 2018. Helen is a qualified Physiotherapist with a wide range of knowledge, holistic views and a wealth of personal experience.
Helen has worked in the healthcare industry for over 25 years, both within the NHS and in the private sector – both in the UK and abroad. Within these different settings, client needs have not been met due to rehabilitation duration, waiting times or lack of resources.
Orchid Rehabilitation was established to provide a holistic rehabilitation approach, using neurological physiotherapy, for our clients in their own homes.
Helen has found a way to overcome her own life limiting challenges to achieve a balance and enabled her to return to a high level of activity and she would love to share her experiences of helping others through similar circumstances.
Helen is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists interested in Neurology (ACPIN).
